Meet Angi
A scientist by training, a teacher by experience, and a lifelong student of the human body.
My path to this work has been shaped by both science and personal experience. After 15 years studying the effects of environmental pollution on ecosystems, my curiosity about how complex systems function eventually turned toward my own body.
Years of navigating chronic illness, reproductive loss, motherhood, and pelvic health challenges taught me that understanding the body involves more than identifying what isn't working. It also requires learning to recognize its patterns, respond to its needs, and rebuild trust in its capabilities.
Today, through Root & Resonate Wellness, I bring that same scientific curiosity to functional movement, breathwork, yoga, and complementary wellness practices. My goal is to help women better understand their bodies, develop practical tools, and feel more confident navigating life's changes.
From Science to Self-Discovery
I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, surrounded by a culture of outdoor adventure that nurtured my connection to nature and curiosity about the world around me. That curiosity eventually led me into science. I earned a bachelor's degree in General Biology and a master's degree in Marine Science before beginning a 15-year career in Environmental Toxicology.
My work focused on understanding how pollution affects ecosystems and the organisms within them. I loved the investigative nature of science and felt a strong sense of purpose in protecting natural resources for future generations.
I never imagined that the scientific curiosity I brought to understanding the natural world would eventually become so important in understanding my own body.
Learning to Listen to My Body
In my late twenties, following a miscarriage, I began experiencing severe symptoms that would eventually be diagnosed as endometriosis. For two years, I navigated debilitating pain, migraines, vomiting, rectal bleeding, infertility, and repeated dismissal within the medical system before finally receiving a diagnosis at age 29.
With appropriate medical care, surgery, Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, and my own determination to understand what was happening in my body, I gradually regained stability. At 31, I welcomed my first child.
Motherhood brought tremendous joy, but it also revealed how difficult managing chronic illness alongside parenting could be. Eventually, I stepped away from the scientific career I loved. For years, our family adapted to a rhythm of good days and bad days, with my health often determining what was possible.
Along the way, I experienced two additional miscarriages, including one complicated by a life-threatening infection that progressed to sepsis.
In 2017, eight years after my daughter was born, I welcomed my son. His birth brought another set of physical challenges, including a dislocated hip, significant vaginal tearing, and diastasis recti. Although pelvic floor physical therapy helped, I continued to experience pain and instability for nearly a year.
The turning point came when I began working with a pelvic health movement teacher who approached the body as an interconnected system.
Rather than focusing solely on isolated muscles or symptoms, I began exploring how breathing, posture, movement patterns, and the nervous system influence the way the body functions.
More importantly, I began changing my relationship with my body. Instead of trying to control it to get through each day, I learned to listen, respond, and work with it.
That shift—from control to connection—helped me rebuild strength, stability, and confidence in ways I hadn't experienced in over a decade.
In 2022, I underwent a hysterectomy as part of my ongoing journey with endometriosis. During my recovery, I felt increasingly drawn to share what I had learned with other women navigating pelvic health challenges, chronic pain, motherhood, and major life transitions.
I knew firsthand how isolating these experiences could be, and how meaningful it was to have knowledgeable, compassionate support.
My intention is to help people cultivate greater embodiment, and experience life with more vitality, awareness, and purpose.
Why Root & Resonate?
My healing journey didn't end with rebuilding physical strength. As I explored the connections between movement, breath, and the nervous system, I became increasingly drawn to the energetic and intuitive dimensions of well-being.
Energy work became an integral part of my own healing and eventually inspired me to become a practitioner. Sharing this practice with others has become deeply fulfilling, while my first Reiki attunement opened a profound new chapter in my intuitive development.
My scientific background taught me to appreciate the complexity and interconnectedness of living systems. My spiritual journey has expanded that perspective, deepening my belief that we are more than our physical bodies.
I believe the body is how the soul experiences the physical world. Caring for our physical health allows us to engage more fully in that experience, while nurturing our energetic and spiritual well-being supports a deeper connection to ourselves.
This integration of body and spirit is the foundation of Root & Resonate. Whether through functional movement, breathwork, yoga, meditation, Reiki, or intuitive practices, my intention is to help people strengthen that connection, cultivate greater embodiment, and experience life with more vitality, awareness, and purpose.
Education & Training
My work is informed by a foundation in biological science, extensive personal experience, and ongoing education in functional movement, breathwork, yoga, and energy-based practices.
I completed my Restore Your Core® teacher training in 2024, studying anatomy, nervous system regulation, tensegrity-based biomechanics, and common patterns of core and pelvic floor dysfunction. Since then, I've continued expanding my training to support a broader, more integrated approach to wellness.
